  • 01/2003 - Some news from Thomas: I just accepted a post as Musical Director of the TED Conference in Monterey, California in February. If you've never heard of TED (Technology, Entertainment and Design) check out the web site, www.ted.com. It brings together 500 of the best minds of our time from multiple converging fields to discuss new innovations and ideas. As Musical Director I get to liaise with the live perfromers at the conference--this year these include Brian Eno, DJ Spooky, Eddi Reader, Natalie McMaster, Rachelle Garniez and Evelyn Glennie. I also have to compose a musical tableau for each of the 13 sessions. Hopefully this will become an annual gig, though it only takes up a month or so of my time.
